The Groom's parents are hosting the rehearsal dinner which they have made reservations on the Thursday before the wedding. Two of the Bridesmaids (cousins of the bride and only family) live out of state and cannot make it on Thursday. I thought the rehearsal dinner is usually the Friday before the wedding. I understand from reading many of the posts that since they are hosting the party they can do what they want but since there will be no other relatives on the brides side (MOB - is deceased and FOB do not speak) don't you think it would be rude not to consider the other option of having it on the Friday evening so the bridemaids can attend.

The rehearsal dinner should be hosted on the night of the rehearsal - hence the name rehearsal dinner.
Sometimes the rehearsal has to be on a night when the church/minister is free and may not be the day before the wedding. This is for the couple to plan. Then the parents should be planning the dinner for that evening. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
That is usually the case but the church rehearsal is being held on Friday night. They are having it on different evenings. Also they are planning on celebrating the groom's birthday at the rehearsal dinner is this appropriate?
Since the rehearsal is on Friday, the rehearsal dinner should be on Friday also. The dinner on Thursday should be a birthday party for their son. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com
