     Who chooses wedding guest list?

My half sister is very upset. For over 6 months she has been fighting to have my Father, her stepfather from age 5 to age 30, included on her wedding guest list. Our Mom's new husband of 2 years has thrown a tantrum every time it was mentioned. He has also banned several other people my sister was close to because they are good friends of my Father. My Father told her not to worry; that he doesn't want there to be a scene that would ruin the wedding. We don't feel it is right that he not see his 3 daughters and grandson at this ceremony. I always thought it was up to the bride and groom to select the wedding guest list. Am I wrong?

Dear Half Sister,

You are correct. The couple chooses the guest list even if the parents contribute. It is always polite to take our parent's wishes under consideration. But ultimately, the couple has the last say.

Best wishes,
