     awkward question about wedding

My boyfriend is a lodger in a house and has been invited to the wedding of his 'landlords' sisters daughter. Very confusing. He has been invited as a guest of the cousin of the bride ie the son of the woman he is living in the house with. My boyfriend however did not want to attend the reception, and would have just gone for the wedding itself and the dinner and drinks after as he felt bad about being gone the night before i leave the country for a week and so was not going to attend the reception. Anyway he told the mother of the bride this, and she has now invited me. I feel very uncomfortable with this and feel it would be very rude of me to go. my bf ,however, now really wants me to go saying i am being stupid. what should i do?

Dear Feeling Awkward,

They must have really wanted him to attend. So, they will probably want you there as well. You have been invited and it may be an enjoyable evening.

It is entirely your choice. If you go, you are not obligated to give a gift. You may want to give them a card. But, the gift is your boyfriend's obligation.

Best wishes,
