Our wedding is Sept. 1st, Labor Day weekend. It is taking place at a local resort. The weekend is full of festivities and we got a great price for rehearsal dinner, reception and day after BBQ Picnic. The reception menu is more expensive than the Sunday BBQ, so we kept the list down and invited close friends and family (100 people). I have a large extended family I was not able to invite to the wedding and reception (about 20 or so people), but would like to invite to the BBQ and bonfire the following day. Is this inappropriate? If not, how do I word an invitation? We need an RSVP for the resort. -Sincerely, Bride

Re: [salubride] day after wedding invites

Dear Salubride,
No, it would not be appropriate, although it is appropriate to invite some to the reception and not the wedding. In your case though it is as if these extra guests are only 'good' enough for the 'after' event, which could be insulting.
You would invite your wedding/reception guests to the barbecue the next day with an insert. Just state the what, when, where, and why of it.
