     mother of the bride

I'm getting married(duh!), but i have a very bad relationship with my mother. My mother-in-law and I have a great relationship, but could I chose her as my mother of the bride since shes has always been like my mother?....Crazy

Mimi,

I really don't understand the question. Is your mother attending your wedding? If she is then the answer would be no.

Dear Mimi,

I understand family problems...family can be stress inducing. And, anyone can fill the mother of the bride role as it pertains to helping you plan, and even being with you on your special day. But, if your mother is going to be at your wedding, she would be treated as host--sitting in the front row, greeting guests at the head of the receiving line, and being introduced as your mother. If she is not, well.... it is up to you.

A word of caution, if there is any way to patch up your problems with your mother at any time in the future, think about replacing her very judiciously. If you replace your mother with someone else for your wedding, your mother will be very hurt and it may be difficult for the both of you as you begin to want her back in your life. This will be something that you can never take back.

Best wishes,
