     reception only invitations

I want to have a very small ceremony, with less that 30 people, but have a large reception for 100 people or more. This is a second marriage for us both, and the ceremony location is very small. I need to know if it is impolite to invite 30 people for the ceremony and a dinner, and then invite the whole family/friends for dancing.
Thanks

This is fine. May people have small, private ceremonies and invite more to the reception that follows. The wedding ceremony is actually the gift giving event, not the reception, so the guests shouldn't feel slighted as they might if they were invited to the ceremony and not the reception.
