My parents have been divorced for almost 15 years and they are both remarried. I get along great with my stepmother and stepfather. At the wedding, my mother insists on my father and stepmother sitting behind my mother and stepfather in the church. My father is walking me down the aisle, so I thought it was only proper for him to sit in the first chair in the first row, followed my stepmother, my mother and then my stepfather. She tells me she will not come to the wedding if I dont have them sit behind her. My father and stepmother have offered to sit anywhere I would like them to just to keep the peace on my wedding day. What should I do? I want to do the proper thing. Help!

Your mother is right. The mother of the bride should sit on the first pew and her immediate family can if need be, fill the first two pews and the father and his family would sit on the third row and back. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com

I completely agree. Your mother should be treated as special. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
