when should i ask my date to the wedding?

I am a bridesmaid in an upcoming wedding and I am allowed to bring a date. I am not involved with anyone but I do want to bring a date. I was wondering how much in advance should you invite someone as your date to the wedding. Thanks

I don't think there is any real "rule" about this. Just use common sense and invite your guest as son as possible. The more in advance you ask, the more likely your friend will be free. If this is a destination wedding or one where you would have to travel then, of course, a good amount of notice would be required.

In other words, don't wait until a few days before or you may find yourself without a date. Plus, you've already responded to the invitation as 2 guests.
