My florist is quoting me $250 for my bouquet consisiting of mini calle lilies, stephanotis, and roses. He is giving me 18% for my total balance. Is this a fair price?

I hate to break it to you...It's expensive because of the flowers you choose. Mini callas are one of the most expensive flowers around. Each stephanotis blossom needs to be wired and taped. Roses aren't particulary expensive. I don't know where your wedding is located and the going rate there. This seems high rent price, but not out of reason if you are looking toward a good sized bouquet. I am assuming it will be pretty meaty at that price. Just as a rule of thumb, right now in Boston the retail on a great quality baby calla is about $7 per stem. Stephanotis including the labor would be about $4 per bloom. Looking at the numbers I would say the responsibility is with your flower choice. If you want to pay a lower percentage, choose less pricy flowers or get smaller arragements.
