I am a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding. She plans to have flowers on all the tables and have the bridesmaids carry fresh bouquets. I am severely allergect to pollen; the slightest bit makes my nose run or stuffs me up. The symptoms worsen the longer I am in contact with the offending pollen. If I take any medicine, I am concerned that I might wind up drowsy during the ceremony. Would it be improper to ask the bride if I could carry an artificial bouquet? I would be willing to pay for it myself if necessary.

You should definitely talk to your bride about the allergies. I'm sure she wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable, but, will the other flowers in the wedding cause you discomfort too?
Perhaps, if you are that severely allergic and the allergies are causing issues, you should consult with an allergist. There are lots of medications available now that will not cause drowsiness. Please speak to your doctor. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
