I'm having an evening wedding in December. But I don't want the usual holly and christmas type flowers for the center pieces and bouquets. My Bridesmaid dresses are an apple color and the groomsman's vests and ties are in champagne. Our venue is in a hall with silk panels of buttercup on the walls which is one reason I picked champagne as the second color.
What flowers and colors would complement such a color selection? For my bouquet I wanted all white flowers but for the bridesmaids I'd like to incorporate some color.
I've decided - for the hall - long stemmed cala lillies in tall vases (about 15 per flowers per vase) standing alone for the centerpieces since the hall has high ceilings, but was leaning more towards roses for the bouquets. Do the centerpieces and bouquets have to be the same flower or can I have a variety?

I like the calla lily idea. Why not use roses and mini calla lilies together in the bouquets. There are some great 2 toned roses you might want to check out. Google up Latin Lady, Nicole, Fashion, Virginia, Electra, Sandy femma, Porceliana and Scarlet Mimi. If you used mostly white and ivory in your bouquet, then just add a touch or red, soft gold, cream and maybe a little deep pink or lime in the attendants bouquet you can achieve a beautiful effect. Other flowers available to you this time of year are tulips, genistra, freesia, vibirnum and wonderful orchids. The addition of soft golden yellow in small amounts will brighten up and "un-Christmas" the look. Freesia comes in a soft butter yellow as well as white, has a great scent and makes a fine bouttionneire. Something to consider. There is no set rule about centerpieces and bouquets but personally I believe it is important to tie things together a bit. In this case maybe a touch of red and whatever other colors you add could be used on the tables. Favors, napkins or single blooms could be used as accents. A simple ribbon tied on the napkins or banded on the vase can make a great statement to tie together and polish up your look.
