     Making Wedding Flower Arrangements

Firstly, I wanted to thank you for the reply to my previous thread about my flower colors..I wasn't able to post a reply to do so.

I caved to pressure from MOB and sister (MOH) and scrapped the peach idea. I am now going with vendelas, bluebirds (lavender) english lavender and love in the mist for filler.

I bought some roses from the grocery store the other day and did a practice run on my centerpieces.
Is there a good trick for getting the flowers to all be sticking out about the same length? My oasis was starting to look like swiss cheese by the time I was done and I know it's not good to just put the flower in the same hole (needs to be in contact with the oasis). I think maybe I'm pushing them in too far, too. Can you recommend a good source for very basic flower arranging? They turned out actually quite nice, and even the grocery store quality flowers lasted about 5 days, so that's a plus, but I'd love to do just a little better with them.

I've also got the corsages and bouts licked..they worked out great and did well in the plastic boxes in the fridge. I'd love to know any special hints/tricks about those, too.

Thanks again, this website is one of the best resources out there!

Deana

[:)I think if you cut your flowers to the same length then put one almost(but not quite) straight up. then 3 paralell with the table sticking out and then fill in the areas in between you might get the uniformity. I wish I could draw it for you but basically you want to mark out a bit of a grid and work with equally within the areas.
Or just practice a lot!
As far as sticking the flowers in too far you can't. The deeper the better for water uptake. Wish I had a video...Maybe Blockbuster? Good luck!
