I am planning a small second wedding in the Fall at East Brothers Lighthouse (in the SF Bay). We would like to have flowers for my bouquet as well as for the rooms in the inn. What would you recommend for this time of year? Thanks!!

Well, all sorts of flowers are available. California grows some of the very best anywhere too. That time of the year some highlights are lilies, asters, sunflowers, mums. lisianthus, larkspur and delphinium, hypericum berries and spray roses. Also great that time of year are seed pods and grasses and the great textural elements of fall.
You may be able to get along quite nicely with an assortment of interesting foilage, grasses, branches and seed pods surrounding just a couple of great blooms like lilies or sunflowers. Use these in the rooms in simple vases for a great welcome.
At the ceremony perhaps you would like to give each guest a flower to carry thus creating a festive but casual ambiance. In a windy casual outdoor setting like that you might consider a big abundant arm bouquet with a flutter of ribbon, minimize all the other elements and just "carry the day" yourself.
Food for thought! Have a great time planning and a fantastic wedding and life with your new family...take care! Sue of Hobart's Fine Florals http://www.hobartsfineflorals.com
