I need advice regarding floral arrangements for the ceremony and reception. The wedding is 7/14/06, the bride's (that's me ) dress is ivory w/crystal beading, bridesmaids are wearing floor-length sage gowns; MOB will be in bisque and MOG is supposedly wearing black (ceremony begins at 7PM, so I'm fine with the black). FOB and FOG, groom/groomsmen/ringbearers/ushers are all in black tuxes, groom and ringbearers w/ivory tie and vest, groomsmen-black tie and vest, ushers-charcoal tie and vest.
I love this palette, but I'm hoping to punch up the volume a little bit more and am getting stuck with the accent colors. I adore blue, but I don't think that necessarily goes very well. Purple seems like a good choice, but how would I weave that into the sage/ivory look? I'm not a huge fan of pink, but wouldn't be averse to using it very sporadically. The one thing I don't want is all ivory/creams/white-the monochromatic look is just not my preferred style.
My favorite flower is the calla lily, and I know that flower will need to be the focal point of something (just what that "something" is, I have no clue).
Reception decor includes a long head table and about 18 round tables of 10. I know I'd like the minimalist approach to centerpieces; nothing towering over people's heads. The linen are all ivory, chairs have ivory covers w/a sage sash.
I don't really have a theme, simply "Nocturne Elegance" (I just made that up ), so I don't want anything over-the-top, or something that will overpower people's sensibilities. Just an elegant, semi-opulent look. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for this great site!!
I think you can pull in another color and work from there. the sage is a beautiful background to almost anything. One maybe is floating cymbidium orchids and candles. Easy and classy. Cymbidiums come in lots of soft shades and generally include some green on the throats. Colors I like to use with sage are Ivory, peach to salmon tones or blue lavender and purple tones. I think if you blended white mini callas, bluebird or sterling roses and green and ivory cymbidiums with fresh light green accents you could get a great look. How about a trip to the biggest best flower shop around just to look and play . The week before Mothers day is too busy for the florists to help you but usually loaded with flowers. Maybe you could put a few combinations together and try to get a reading on what combination really appeals to you most. Color choices usually come down to an emotional response so you probably need some hands on to help you decide. Go forth, dig in and answers will come!!! All the best...
