     Sunflowers for weddings

Hello,

I am very interested in having sunflowers as the flower of choice for my wedding. My bridesmaid dresses are burgundy red, so here are a few questions.

1) What would be a good idea for the boutonnière?
2) How would one sunflower look for the bridesmaids bouquets?
3) My fiancee likes freesia. Are they a good match for sunflowers and if so, how do I incorporate them?

Thanks, and I'm looking forward to your response.

SmileSmileSmileYou have the answer to the bouttionniere question already...Freesia makes a georgeous and fragrant bout. There is a reddish one with a gold throat called "santurn." It will fit the bill perfectly!
One Sunflower would be fine but a pair with long stems and a touch of wispy greens like eel grass would be better. Most of the commercially grown sunflowers are not the great big ones anymore. They have that look but are a more refined size of about 5 inches accross. One high and one lower would look good...Also you are representing a joining of two people so 2 is the right number...don't ya think?
As far as your bouquet is concerned it would be helpful to add a flower with a little mass to it to help create a rounded look. Assuming you want to accent the red dresses a bit I might suggest an alstromeria in a goldish red (sasha) or even a orangish red open rose such as lipstick or circus (stay away from the pure red here...too much contrast in the yellow and red for the bride.) ALSO BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE FREESIA IN YOUR BOUQUET....The great thing there is that scent is directly related to your memory. So 20 years down the line you may get a whiff of fresh freesia and it can bring you right back to this special day...gotta do that!!! Good luck and wishing you a great wedding and marriage!!!
