Tulips for bridesmaids bouquets in October?

Hi,

My wedding is in October. My fiance and I both love the fall so this is a perfect time. My question pertains to flowers for the bridal party. I love tulips and would like them to be the main flower in the bridal bouquets. The bridesmaid dresses are black tea-length, very Audrey Hepburnish. My dress (ivory) has a similar vintage feel to it. We would like to use orange as an accent color for the wedding and my favorite tulips are the orange and yellow or orange and red tulips. Do you have any suggestions for how to use these flowers in a bouquet while keeping with the Hepburn style and not being too Halloween-ish? MKS

Hi...There is an orange, purple, green tricolor tulip called Princess Irene you should look into. I think if you skip the yellow that should add the classy edge you are after. Red, green , orange and deep fuchsia will compliment better than yellow.

Use your black gowns as a backdrop to the flowers and decorations. Skip black ribbons, tablecloths and or anywhere you would put it next to orange. That is other than the dresses and tuxes of course!

It sounds very pretty. The the main "trick" is to be sure the flowers are beautiful and nicely tailored and that your florist knows about your Audrey Hepburn thing. That is a really easy to understand way of telling her what you are looking for.
