We're providing parents, grandparents & bridal party/helpers with corsages & boutonnieres. Should the parent's and grandparents' corsages & boutonnieres be different from the bridal party/helper's? If so, how different do they have to be? Do they have to be different in color or just a slight difference in style is sufficient? I don't want to have too many color at the wedding. Thanks.

Generally the grandmothers and Mothers will get something really lovley. Female bridal party helpers and such can be a bit scaled down. Something like a bouttionneire size corsage is fine there. All the men generally wear the same size Bouttionneire. In terms of colors coordinate with the wedding or stay on the neutral side if colors begin to clash around. There is no need nowadays to bend over backwards to match specific outfits. For the most part people wear plain colors and it is usually not a problem. Thanks for the quick reply. So the elaborate corsages for the mothers and grandmothers are optional or is it required to make theirs dramatically different? The MOG is demanding parents and grandparents' corsages and butonnieres be different from everyone else's. We originally plan on same color flowers for everyone and use ribbons and styling to distinguish corsages and butonnieres. Is that "correct"?
I cannot really say what the rules are...Generally these days corsages for the mothers and grandmothers suit the theme flowers and coordinate a bit with the individual gowns. Corsages or some sort of flowers for the mothers and grandmothers are NOT optional but are your your way of honoring your special relationship with these people that love you .
If your future Mother in Law wants something different just defer to her and forget the "rules." The corsages and Bouts are a lot less important than your relationship with her.
