     Who gets which flowers?

I think I'm going with tulips, alstroemeria, and lilies with hypericum berries for my wedding flowers. I'm planning to only have my bouquet done by a florist and making the rest of the bouquets and corsages myself in order to keep costs down. My bridesmaids will be carrying just tulips in red because their dresses are yellow and I'll be holding mostly yellow flowers for contrast. What happens with the boutonnieres and corsages for the father/mother of the bride/groom and grandparents? Does the mother of the bride and mother of the groom get the same corsages in the same color? Is there ettiquette for how flower colours are distributed brides side vs. grooms. Do the important women/men all get the same corsage/boutonniere as each other?

SmileHi, I am not aware of any set etiquette on colors or differentiations on what side of the family and such. I generally recommend treating everyone with similar flowers. In your case the colors might be an issue since red and yellow might not be an easy match all round. Consider what Smileothers are wearing or choose a more neutral color in these cases.

As far as the do it yourself aspects of your wedding are concerned a little sage advise. Practice Practice Practice...Then get someone besides yourself on your side working with you. Bouquets of tulips for the attendants are easy enough to handle but the corsages and bouts might prove a bit difficult without practice. Wiring and taping is also hard if not brutal on manicures and sometimes nerves. Practice the procedure well ahead of the wedding in case you want to forgo that project and order them from your florist.

Good luck and have a great wedding!

The only etiquette I'm familiar with is that the mothers of bride and groom get corsages and most often are the same color flattering the dresses they'll be wearing. Also the fathers can have the same boutineer as the groomsmen.
