     a wildflower wedding...

Hello! Okay, I've accepted the fact that I can't have lilacs at my Sept. wedding! So my next favorite... wildflowers! Can they work with a formal wedding? And can you suggest some individual flowers as well as some bouquet arrangements? Thanks!!

Bianca

SmileSmileSlyWinkHi Bianca...There is a beautiful elegant type of hydranges I would suggest you look into. It is called a p.g. (for paniculata GrandifloriaCrazy) hydrangea. They are off white to blush cone shaped blooms similar in shape to lilac. Very elegant yet earthy. true wildflowers are not always commercially grown bus some that will be available are asters, queen annes lace, scabiosa, bachelors buttons, rose hips, goldenrod, lisianthus, and a plethera of unusual textural greens and seed heads. If you know someone who can grow a few things for try planting cosmos...a fantastic flower! I would suggest as a combination the p.g. hydrangea, a few stock in lavender, lots of freesia (both of those for their beautiful fragrance) cosmos, lots of queen annes lace and some great greyish greens.
One thing I always like to include in any wedding bouquet is scent...It is your first memory zone. Somewhere down the line you will get a whiff of freesia or whatever and say ahhhh...my wedding day. Irreplacable 20 years later!
Find a florist that likes to work outside the box...or a really helpful gardener and have fun...All the best.

Thanks so much FlowerSue! I'm going to start lookin' up those flowers... I can't wait! I think they'll make for a beautiful wedding! After we select the flowers, we're going to choose the colors of the dresses, etc., so the flowers will really set the theme. Thanks again!!Smile
