coordinating green and wine/berry colored wedding flowers

My daughter's bridesmaid's dresses are called "berry" color. The dresses are more on the dark wine/purple tint than the dark red/brown of burgundy color. For her bouquet she wants just green roses and burgundy/chocolate cymbidium orchids. for bridesmaid's bouquets green cymbidium orchids with green hydrangeas. There will be candelabra stands as pew markers with green hydrangea and green roses. Should I add burgundy roses to the green hydrangea and green roses of the candelabra pew stands? Should I add a burgundy filler flower to the bridesmaid's bouquet? The bride's bouquet is the only place the chocolate cymbidiums will be, other than the cake with green cymbidiums. I want to use the hydrangeas because I have plenty of green and white hydrangeas In my yard. I think blue bird roses look stunning against the berry of the dresses with the green, but I don't know how they match up against chocolate cymbidiums.

I think it sounds beautiful and contemporary! You already have the right combinations going. That Berry color should serve as your background to the greens. It will be more effective to feature mostly green that to "spotty" it up with a lot of burgundy, which in a church will probably just look dark.

Your green cymbidiums can be ordered with burgundy throats, which are gorgeous and more than enough color. Cymbidiums also stand on their own. Keep it simple.

There is a fantastic new green rose called supergreen which opens like a cabbage rose! Check it out. If you really feel like the bouquets are not detailed enough you might look into green hypericum berries.

I am a "moms age" florist and when we got married we liked filler flowers and details. That is not so much the way brides are feeling these days. Simple, rather tailored and elegant are the way to go now.

Another tip. You will have a lot of taping to do with all those orchids. Start with cotton tipped corsage stems, (florists call them barbie tampons) which will give them a bit of a water source thus avoid wilting. Start wiring early or you will be quite fried before the wedding. Store them in misted plastic grocery bags in a cool place until you need them. You're taking on a lot. Try to get some help too. Good luck!
