     gerbera daisies for bridal bouquets

Will gerbera daisies stand up well for bouquets? I had a florist tell me they wouldn't, but I know I've seen pictures where other people have used them!

I'm having a very simple wedding, and I want to use several calla lilies tied with a simple ribbon for my bouquet. I want something equally simple for my bridesmaids, and was thinking about having them each carry several daisies tied with a simple ribbon.

I want my fiance to wear a mini calla lily for his boutonniere, and was then thinking of having the groomsmen wear mini gerbera daisies for their boutonnieres.

Does this all sound like a good idea! I don't know a lot about flowers!!!!

Gerbera daisies are a great choice for bouquets because they are available in so many colors, as well as year round. A recommendation for using these flowers in bouquets would be to have your floral designer wire and tape each of the flower heads- this will ensure that they will not break off the stem. You may also want to have your designer collar the bouquets with greenery, which will also give these a little extra support.

Calla lilies are a more expensive flower in comparison to gerbera daisies, and are not as large of a flower, meaning you will need more.

If you are thinking that your fiance will wear a mini calla lily boutonniere, I would suggest incorporating the mini callas into your bouquet as well. If your bridesmaids then carry the gerbera daisies, the groomsmen can wear a miniature gerbera daisy to coordinate with the bridesmaid's bouquets.

Good luck and let us know if you are in need of any other help!
