     Additional gift/afterthought gift

Hi there
I gave my friends a restaurant gift certificate as a wedding gift. They used it recently and really appreciated it. I have been thinking that I wish I gave them a higher amount on the gift certificate. It was a very expensive place (that I knew they would enjoy) and $50 wouldn't cover the whole meal. I certainly could not have covered them for the whole meal but I now wish I gave them more. We don't exchange birthday or other holiday gifts and I did not have to travel for the wedding. If I wanted to give them another wedding gift of some kind, do you think that would be OK? I'm sure if I mentioned any regrets they would shush my concerns but I think they deserve more than that! I was a bit deluged; last year I attended 3 weddings and a baby shower within 3 months, then went on a vacation to Paris. Now that I'm feeling more financially stable I am regretting my choice.

Dear Beachygirl,

Your gift was fine. There really is no reason to punish yourself for being generous. Another gift may seem a bit strange. But, there is no 'rule' against it.

Best wishes,
