Amount of money to give as wedding gift

I know the rule of thumb is to give at least what you figure your meal costs. I will be attending with my husband and both of my children are in the wedding. Is it proper then to give what I figure the meals cost for the 4 of us? Just not sure if the kids are in the wedding party but want to make sure I do the right thing...money is a little tight with all the other wedding expenses. Thanks!

There is no "rule" for the amount of money to spend on a wedding gift. You should either select a gift you know the couple needs or would like or give a monetary gift based on your relationship and what you can afford. Always let your heart dictate the gift rather than the pocketbook.
