Attendants in Destination Wedding: Do I need to give a gift?

I am a groomsman in a wedding in Vail. The bride and groom are covering no costs, such as hotel, travel or activities. I am havingt to spend $2200 to be a part of this event. Do I still need to buy a gift for the wedding, or is my presence at this pricetag considered my gift? Please help.
