Buy from registry or go for a better deal?

My nephew and his fiance registered their china pattern at a major department store. I have since noticed that their china is available online from a different company at significantly lower prices. I'm a practical person and would like to buy more china for the money from this other source, but I'm wondering if this would look strange or tacky? If it is not, then should I notify the department store of what I have bought, to avoid someone buying duplicates?

Dear Aunt,

You can purchase this from any source. Just ship it to her home so she can contact the store. Wedding gifts are to be shipped before the wedding, so this is fine.

Best wishes,
