Our wedding is in 4 weeks and we have started recieving several wedding gifts, including checks. I know that with "normal" gifts, we open them, write a thank you ASAP, and put the gift away to be used after the wedding.
What is the proper etiquette with gifts of money?? I know that we should send the thank you ASAP, but do we wait until after the wedding to cash or deposit the check?

Dear Checks,
You know your etiquette and are respectful of your gift givers. Thank you.
Because your check writers will want to balance their check books, it would be best to cash the checks. Deposit all of the money and please do not spend it until after the wedding.
It is unfortunate, but sometimes the bride doesn't make it down the aisle and all gifts must be returned. So, we hold on to this until later.
