My Groom and I are getting married in the Bahamas this summer, we are having a wedding reception when we get back. we have lived together already for 4 yrs and do not need any Wedding gifts. We would like to say on our reception invitations " Monetary gifts are apppreciated". Is this appropriate? We really do not want to register any where. We just want money. Please help!!

Dear Wants Cash,
Gifts are given for the wedding, not the reception. I know a lot of people get that confused. But, people give wedding gifts, not reception gifts. No one registers for a reception.
To mention gifts of any kind on a wedding or reception invitation is never appropriate. You are putting the focus on getting something, not on celebrating your love for each other. And, to request cash...never. This is viewed as tacky and greedy--believe me. I'm sure that you don't want to be viewed in that light.
I'm sorry, but there is no way to do this politely and without it looking like you want someone to pay for the party you are hosting for yourself. It just wouldn't be the right thing to do.
