     Destination wedding gift?

My friends are having a destination wedding. My fiance is attending, but I am not. They are not paying for his accomodations, even though we did a lot of work for them (showers, bachelor party, social here in town). Do we have to get them a wedding gift?

Dear Not Attending,

Gifts should be from the heart, so if you don't feel that you should, don't. But, guests are expected to send a gift, especially if they are attending a wedding.

Couples are only expected to pay for their attendant's lodging. So, it isn't expected for them to pay for your fiance. Hopefully they did something nice in return for all of your hard work for their benefit.

Best wishes,
