Do I have to send a gift for the shower if not attending
I am invited to a bridal shower and wedding, both of which I cannot attend. I will be sending a shower gift, but my question is, since I won't be attending the actual wedding, do I also need to send a wedding gift?
Someone told me it is more appropriate to send a gift for the wedding vs. the shower if you cannot attend either but only can give one gift. I thought the opposite was true. TIA!

You aren't obligated to send a gift for the bridal shower if you are not attending. Now here is where the waters muddy. Many etiquette experts are getting away from the obligation to send a gift to the wedding if not attending. This is your call. If you have a relationship with the bridal couple and want to send a gift, please do so. If you haven't seen them in years or aren't really close with them then a simple card would be nice.
