Do parents of the groom give wedding gift if paying for wedding?

As the parents of the groom, we have contributed a significant amount towards a rather large wedding.

Should we present a gift at the wedding? We know the B&G need very little except cash and cash seems to be the custom for wedding gifts in this area and for both families.

IS a card and a check custom from the parents?

Just curious what others have done.

Thanks

Dear Parents,

In the very recent past, parents would contribute plus give a gift. However, parents are no longer responsible for any of the cost of their children's weddings these days. So anything you give is a gift. If you contributed a sum of money, that is your gift. It is your decision if you want to give more.

Best wishes,

I'd like to also suggest that if the parents intend the money given for the wedding to be the couple's wedding gift then you should probably let them know. This isn't "etiquette", but you'll want to be sure the couple isn't feeling hurt if they didn't understand your intention.
