Gift: know the mother, do not know wedding couple

I have been invited to a wedding where I know the mother (she is a co-worker), but do not know the couple. This is her daughter getting married and she happens to live overseas, and therefore, I have not met her yet. The wedding is being held in the States. My co-worker has been planning this wedding for months-it seems as much hers as her daughters'! Anyway, do I buy a gift for the mother AND the couple, or just the mother since I know her??

Thanks-

You need only buy a wedding gift for the couple.
