Gift Etiquette When You're a Guest

I've been to at least a dozen out of state weddings in the past few years that have required air fare, rental cars, and hotel rooms.

What is the rule for gifts in this case? Do I still give a gift or is my going to their wedding gift enough? Half of these weddings have been on the opposite coast and have been quite costly to go to.

Thank you so much!!!

It's your choice to go go not. But, if you attend it is expected that all guests bring a gift. The gift doesn't have to be something expensive though.
