Gift for Parents from the Bride and Groom

I'm hoping this is right discussion board for a question like this...

...however, my fiancee and I are having a difficult time coming up with gift ideas for our parents. We are on a very tight budget, but we want ours gifts to show them just how much we appreciate them and their generousity. Would we be best to do a joint gift for each set of parents, or individual gifts to suit each persons tastes? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Bride-to-Be, Kate.
