Gift for bride's and groom's parents

When buying gifts for the bride's and groom's parents, would it be okay to take into account who is funding the wedding? Or, is it best to give both sets of parents the same gift?

Thank you,

tinamariv

Since giving gifts to the parents isn't really traditional, though thoughtful and generous, the gist can and should be something personal, not the same gift. These wouldn't be given in public like the bridal party gifts might, so choose something that expresses your feelings and highlights their personalities.
