     Gift from mother to bride

Is it traditional for the mother of the bride to give a separate gift to the bride?

Dear Lq ueet,

No, it isn't traditional, although many times the mother would loan her daughter something for her "something borrowed". Plus, these days, if you contributed, that is your gift to the couple. It wasn't in the past. But, since the parents are no longer financially responsible for their children's weddings, it is the case now.

Best wishes,
