     Gift from registry AND money?

This summer I am invited to my first wedding. I was recently told by a friend who's been to many weddings that, in addition to getting a gift off the registry, I have to come to the wedding with a monetary gift. Crazy
Is it inappropriate if I just have a gift sent to the bride off the registry? Or do I need to bring money as well?
Thanks for your help!

Any gift you give or send is appropriate. There is no need to snd two gifts.
