     Gift giving

I recently attended a bridal shower and gave a rather nice ($$) gift... Anyway, my question is, is it necessary to also give a monetary gift to the bride and groom at the wedding? If so, what is an appropriate amount... we are under the impression that it is proper to at least cover the cost per plate (about $125. per person)? By the way, this wedding will be held on a Tuesday night (the evening before the 4th of July) and if it's not necessary, would it look bad on our behalf... your expert advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

We have many, many posts on this subject in the gift and registry category. Please search. Also, if posting in the future please review the posting rules and post only in the appropriate category using grammatically correct sentences and punctuation so that our experts can read with ease.

Note that bridal shower gifts are not supposed to be expensive gifts. These are gifts given to help set up the new home and should be things like set of towels or low cost items selected based on the shower theme.

Thank you.
