Gift if attending wedding and gift if not attending

I attended the wedding of a friend's daughter and gave a present of money. I am now being invited to his son's wedding. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. Should the amount of the gift be the same as the daughter's or is it improper etiquette to give a lesser amount.

Whether you attend the wedding or not not, you can give a gift of any size.

Dear Jacksbeach,

Plus, if not attending the wedding, you are not obligated to send a gift.

Best wishes,
