Gift registry for post wedding reception with family
I was recently married in CA, but because most of my family and my husband's family is out of state, we had a small intimate wedding for about 35 of our closest friends and family.
We are going back to my husband's hometown of MN, where his family is throwing us a reception to include his very large family.
We are pretty much set on appliances for our home, but could always use gift cards and cash, plus we will be flying so it will be impossible for us to take gifts back home with us.
From reading the other forums such as this, I see that the experts shun away from asking for gift cards or cash, but my questions is...How can we properly WORD our request for such gifts on a registry announcement?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Dear Asking for Cash,
There is no polite way to word this because it is viewed as greedy. Plus, we never include registry information in wedding or reception invitation. And, gifts are given for the wedding and not the reception. So, those invited to your reception are not obligated to give you a gift.
If someone asks you what you would like, you may tell them.
