Groom asks guests to wire wedding $$ into a bank account??

I have an English friend who lives in Estonia. I live in the USA and won't be able to go due to the substantial airfare costs(I went there last year and met his fiancee).

I just received his wedding invitation. On the top, it says.

Wedding Gift

To ensure that our honeymoon is wonderful, please wire the sum of your wedding gift to:

His name

16 digit international bank account

Is this extremely tacky???

I'll match that 'yes' and add a 'You are kidding, right?'.

We never mention gifts on a wedding invitation. Jeez.
