How To Let Guests Know About Wedding Gift Registry

Hello, I am an older bride (40's) and will be getting married in October. If it is bad etiquette to put the gift registry in the invitation then how will the guests know where to go to IF they should decide to buy a gift? What is the etiquette if word of mouth is not possible?

Word-of-mouth can be as simple as a guest calling you or a friend of yours to ask where you are registered. If the guests can't or won't pick up a phone or drop an e-mail to do that, then let them be creative if they decide to give you a gift. Register for convenience, but do not include the information in your invitation.

I agree that is a big no-no. It is as if your focus is on a gift and not on the wedding.

When I want to know where someone is registered, I check online. I almost always find it.

Absolutely NOT!!! I was asked this question so in turn came here and asked this question. At my age I think if I want a gift I can go buy it myself, I just wanted to know what the proper etiquette was. Sorry!

I'm sorry you are insulted by my comment. But, this is typically how others view it when gift registry information is included in invitations. And, this is a huge reason why we don't.
