I live in New York (suburban NYC) and my colleague (we're both fresh out of college) whom I have known for about 10 months has invited me to her wedding. We are pretty close for colleagues (e.g. have lunch together nearly every day, I went to her bachelorette party and she has shared many details of her wedding). However, at her wedding, I am probably the LEAST close person to her. My question is, how much money should I give as a wedding gift? I know that it is about $100/plate at the place she is holding her wedding at. My boyfriend will be my date and I have heard some crazy amounts applicable to NY/NJ region ($150-$200 per PERSON!). I am not looking to spend that kind of money, considering our relationship and that we already did a collection and lunch at work for her wedding and I paid $120 for a bachelorette party. I was looking to give about $120, but I am worried it may not be enough. I don't want to look cheap either, as she is my colleague after all. HELP!

I did take a look and there are plenty of posts about "how much to give" but nothing really relating directly to my situation...but I suppose the amount is really my choice...I am just very clueless as the last wedding I went to was 10 years ago and it was my cousin.

They all relate. Your situation is not all that different. They all say that you do not give gifts based on the amount paid per plate and that all gifts should be given from the heart...
