How much to spend on a wedding gift from a college student

Hi, I am a college student, 22 years of age. Recently, I have had two friends invite me to their weddings within the next month. I feel I am fairly close to each of them and they will understand if my wedding gift doesn't cost a ton of money, but I don't want to look cheap either. Considering that I make about $200 a week what do you feel would be appropriate to spend on a gift?

Dear Clueless,

All gift giving is optional and should never be expected, but I understand your apprehension. There is no dollar amount that would be appropriate, so you could just be inventive. One of my favorite wedding gifts was my wedding invitation framed; another was an embroidered gift stating our names and the date of our wedding.

So you see, it really is the thought that counts. If you choose to give a gift, just give something that makes you happy when you see it.

Best wishes,

I agree with rebecca. I would much rather have a special keepsake from a friend than a bit of cold cash. Handmade gifts like wedding albums covered in satin are great, but if you aren't handy or don't have the time here are a few suggestions:

Wedding Picture Frames and Photo Albums

Fabric Wedding Album

Do a search on the internet for "cheap wedding gifts". There are alot of sites out there selling really nice, inexpensive wedding gifts.

Go and have a ball!
