How to tactfully ask for money, instead of gifts?

My fiance and I already have everything we need to set up a household. We don't need the usual things, such as pots and pans, etc. We each have lived on our own and have these things. But we could really use "donations" of money to put a down payment on a house or even for our honeymoon. How do we tactfully ask for money for our wedding?

Thanks for your help!

Crystal
