If you give a shower gift do you give a wedding gift?

I have friends who were just married in Hawaii. He was married before, this is her first wedding. I have already given them a gift at a couples shower and thrown a Bachelorette Party for the Bride that also included a gift. They are not having a formal reception upon return, they have rented a space and are having a "Post Wedding Reception Party". What is the etiquette for gift giving? Do I buy them a gift? I have heard before that if you buy a shower gift, etc you do not have to buy a wedding gift. PLEASE HELP..WHAT IS THE PROPER ETTIQUETTE?

I'm not sure where you read this information but these are all separate ocassions so typically you wil give one gift for each event. However, if I am reading this correctly, you did not attend the wedding (ceremony) and are attending just the reception. Gifts are usually given for the wedding (ceremony) but many do give for the reception. Hard line etiquette states that a gift for the wedding is obligatory but here on this forum we like to suggest that gifts should be given based on your realationship and feelings for the couple. If you'd like to give a gift, please do. If you are on a budget perhaps a nice, handmade keepsake would do the trick.
