Joint gift

I am a bridesmaid. I know that I am expected to get a gift for the shower and wedding.

My boyfriend is also a groomsman. He has decided to give the couple a large amount of his frequent flier miles for their honeymoon as our joint gift. The bride and groom know this.

My question is, is it appropriate for me to "get-in on" this gift? Or should I buy them a separate gift.
