Living in Australia, getting married in USA

Hi there,

I know we are not supposed to ask for gifts/money in invites, etc, but as will be living in Australia and getting married in the USA, it would be impossible/impractical for any gifts to be given to us. How do we handle it?

We are not registering anywhere as anything we would get here would be next to impossible to take back with us and/or the electrical voltage is different, so no electrical appliances would work.

I was hoping that stores in Australia would have an online registry, but they don't (at least we haven't seen any except grocery stores!). I know people can purchase gift cards from various stores. What do you think?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Chris

Dear Shipping Gifts,

It may be best to register for gifts here with the shipping address as your Australia home. Let is be known through the 'grape vine' that you won't be able to receive gifts here in the states. Guests should, but often don't, know that gifts are shipped to the bride's or couple's home.

Best wishes,
