     Lost Gift List

After returning from her honeymoon, my niece found out that her sister lost the gift list after the wedding reception. She wants to send thank-you notes, but does not know who brought what gift. How should she deal with this situation?

Dear Oldgeezer,

Unfortunately this happens often, yet there really is no perfect method for list recovery. The one method that works fairly well is to do some detective work. Everyone close to her, including you, could mention that the list is missing and no one knows who gave what. Hopefully all of you will find out the 'who' and 'what' of this mystery.

This is just another really great reason why everyone should mail their gifts to the bride. She could write the thank you notes as soon as she receives the gifts. Oh well.

Best wishes,
