     No Gifts Please

I understand that it is not appropriate to include on the invitation itself words that allude to no gifts. However, I'm thinking of including on the reception card that goes in the invitation something like...

"A wine and hors d'oeuvre reception immediately follows the ceremony. (or something like this, we're getting married at 8pm).

Please join us on this special evening with only your presence and your happy hearts."

Do you think this will relay the message in an appropriate way?

Dear Gracious,

Thank you for not focusing on gifts. It is a breath of fresh air.

Unfortunately we are not supposed to mention anything about gifts anywhere in our invitations. So, this wouldn't be appropriate. But, you could mention this to a few people and let the rumor mill work for you. A wedding website works well for this message as well. You could email the site address to everyone.

Good luck with this!

Best wishes,
