     Pre-Wedding Thank You's

We are getting married at the end of October. We have recieved a check and a gift. Do we cash the check and open the present, then send thank you's immediately or wait till after the wedding to do these things?

Dear Gifted,

You open the gift, but typically wouldn't cash the check. Because some people may want to balance their check books before the wedding, it may be best to open an account just for the checks. All gifts, including the money, are not to be used until after the wedding. But, thank you notes are to be written now.

Best wishes,
